Hey :)

I just wanted to give you a heads up that one of the deviants on your watch list is plagiarizing almost all of the work on his page:

fabiorosado.deviantart.com/

He's stolen both of these works and added a "fractal effect"

Just a heads up. Don't let him get to you too.

Thank you. I would have liked to see the original images, do you happen to know them?

I'm not afraid of this to happen to me. All the fractals I posted are under a CC license and are permitted to be used for further modification, provided that the results are not used to make money.

And the photos, well, if anyone uses them to make fractals out of them, he/she may have fun.

Of course it would be nice to have a link to the original when someone uses any of my uploads.

Hmm, he seems to have deleted a lot of his deviations from his gallery. He might have a guilt feeling, maybe?

Edit: Typo corrected

Sure! Here's the originals:

I Can't Stop Thinking About You by goRillA-iNK   The Cold Still by Enkased

He stole my fiancee's work first (the second piece) and was really arrogant about it and refused to take it down, claiming that free downloads mean that it's essentially free as stock. Half of his gallery was stolen work that he just put filters on and claimed as his own...so he made a LOT of people angry about it. I think it was his carefree attitude about it that made everyone the most angry. He eventually took it all down, and I think he's finally just using actual stock images.

It's wonderful that we have people here on dA like you that do provide stock under CC licenses...I just don't get why some don't take advantage of that.

Thank you - nice photos, both! :)

Yeah, rather arrogant comments from him. I watched him because he had a "cat fractal" where the thumbnail looked so much like a drawing that I wanted to tell him it's in a wrong category :) I even asked him how he did it but got no answer... This fractal/flame effect is a filter? Interesting! The results look rather cool. Well, in that case it should be required to set a link to the original.

One of mine is a simple photo manipulation, of a photo that was&is not stock. When I had the idea, I asked if I could give it a try and asked again after it was done - had she not liked the result, I would have removed it.

Why nobody takes advantage of it... Maybe nobody has an idea what do do with it. Or... that may be even more likely: People don't want to obey rules, not even by accident, so when it's allowed to use it (under some conditions) they avoid it.
On the other hand... :iconsenshistock: is famous for her stock photos and they really get used. That does not fit to my theory...

More serious: I think the best thing one could do to keep one's work (mis)used by someone else is to put a clearly visible signature onto it, at best near to the middle, even better "incorporated" into the image, e.g. like an engraving or such - but not flatly slapped over the whole image like the dreaded dA watermark. Problem is, I did not have a good idea about a signature until now... so in the one case that has a value for me, I used the dA watermark (with gritted teeth...).

edit: WRONG ICON und thus wrong person! "senshistock" instead of "sailorsenshi"! Sorry!
